Console
Console is one of the main projects for Martin Gretschmann, the lead programmer for the German indie rockers known as “The Notwist”. He did several cooperations and remixes with/for artists like Björk, Depeche Mode, Barbara Morgenstern and many more.
Console came to life somewhere in between 1994 and 1995. It started as a solo project, but after playing the first concerts, Gretschmann found that it’s boring to play alone and so he invited some good old friends to join his live-sets. Since then Console has always been a band when it comes to playing concerts, even if Gretschmann still writes and produces a lot of the music himself.
The first release of Console music is found on “The day my favorite insect died”-Compilation (Kollaps/Payola, 1995). There are three Console tracks on this compilation. A bit later the first 12″ and the first album “Pan or ama” on payola followed.
In 1997 Console produced his first radioplay for the BRII and then found in Andreas Ammer a co-worker with whom he has been creating almost every radioplay ever since.
The Console band are: Miriam Osterrieder (voc, keys), Christoph Brandner (dr), Axel Fischer (MS10, git), Michael Schwaiger (keys, pad), Anton Kaun (visuals), Martin Gretschmann (comp)
