“Denial Of Service” (D.O.S.) is the sixth release of DISKO B’s SEPERATOR SERIES. This time HANS PLATZGUMER delivers his so far most atmospheric musical excursions. PLATZGUMER puts the breakbeats to rest and finds a defintion of space, unprecedented in his music. Besides his new approach of digital Jazz also pop is back with two female guest vocalists that contrast PLATZGUMERS experimental electronics.

Since PLATZGUMER’s „Der Seperator“-debut for Disko B in late 1997 his output has been enormous: after two further albums in 1998 („Fingerfood“ and CUBE & SPHERE’s „Great Norwegian Explorers“) his last years „Datacard“ was the so far most acclaimed release of Disko B’s subdivision „The Seperator Series“ which has been unleashed in early 99 with CUBE & SPHERE's "Amundsen"-12'', was followed by two releases of the bizarre austrian/japanese pop duo SHINTO and had an experimental climax with the CUBE & SPHERE 12‘‘ „Ganz Neu!“.

“Denial Of Service” is all about music. About the might of a bassguitar, the rhodes, the brass, the drums. The granular patchwork and sound processing that transport its grooves into the now. The soundfiling. The quiet, the breathing, the breaking. This is what narrow-minded people are afraid of. It is about time. Dedicated to the greatness and inspiration of 1970s JazzRock.

Denial of Service (D.O.S.) ist das sechste Album der experimentellen „Seperator Serie“ auf Disko B. Auf Hans Platzgumers wohl bislang atmosphärischstem Album gönnt er den Breakbeats eine Ruhepause und findet dabei zu einer für ihn neuen Definition von musikalischer Dichte.
Die vom Jazz-Rock der 70er Jahre inspirierte Produktion bewegt sich zwischen rauhem Digital-Jazz und abstrakter Elektronik. Auf Tracks wie „Lazy“ (mit Catriona Shaw von Queen Of Japan als Gastsängerin) zeigt Platzgumer ausserdem erstmals, wie für ihn die Verbindung von Pop und experimenteller Elektronik in Zukunft aussehen kann (ein Ansatz, den er gerade bei seinen neuen Aufnahmen mit Gerhard Potuznik und Catriona Shaw als CUBE & SPHERE auf Albumlänge vertieft).

Das Album wurde aufgenommen und produziert von Hans Platzgumer. Als Gäste waren dabei: CATRIONA SHAW (QUEEN OF JAPAN, 2), ANNE LaPLANTINE (4), LAHB (5), NACHTSTROM (6), PÖSCHL (9) und HECKER (bonustrack). Design von GEORG GAIGL. Als Bonustrack gibt es das Georg Gaigl Video “Llal.abbr018487*” (Musik von Hecker. Vom Album DATACARD - Seperator 05). Die Vinyl-Version von „Denial Of Service“ erscheint auf HEIMELEKTRO ULM / heim31lp / Hausmusik.

Seit Hans Platzgumers 97er Disko B-Debut „Der Seperator“ scheint der vielseitige Output des Österreichers kaum mehr zu stoppen: nach zwei weiteren 98er Alben („Fingerfood“ und CUBE & SPHEREs „Great Norwegian Explorers“) ist „Denial Of Service“ nun bereits die sechste Veröffentlichung der „Seperator Serie“. 1999 ging die Serie mit CUBE & SPEREs „Amundsen“-12‘‘ an den Start, wurde mit zwei Veröffentlichungen des bizarren japanisch/österreichischen Pop-Duos SHINTO fortgesetzt und fand mit der CUBE & SPHERE 12‘‘ „Ganz Neu!“ und HANS PLATZGUMERs Album „Datacard“ seine bisherigen Höhepunkte.
