Silver Disc is apparently named (and designed) by Moritz R. (ex Der Plan, coverwork artist and oh so much more). It has a reworking of Let s Get Stupid from their previous LP (appearing as Dumm sein gar nicht Dumm ), features New York based FAMILY OF GOD on the track I m Sick of Christmas and several other guest Merricks doing their thing&. But the sound&well, this is definitely POP, but what kind of pop? The Brasilian influences are in abundance as is the krautrock sound of the 70s. Let s not forget the Munich Disco sound of Moroder, or ELO s Jeff Lynne. Stripped down dub&it s all there. It boogies&it funks&it swings&it grooves&it captivates&it thrills&. It s not a sound that is easy to describe without launching into a bunch of crap cliches that don t do it justice. Anyway Silver Disc is again a profoundly internationalistic pop-album: the album contains a lot of instrumentals and reduced lyrics in german, english, spanish and even romanian. The CD version also contains an exclusive multimedia bonus track featuring works by the acclaimed munich photographer martin fengel.
