platzgumer & divinités irritées present FINGERFOOD
Hi, it's snacktime everybody!
FINGERFOOD comes in the form of 7delicious appetizers, each snippet
prepared to go separately or cut together in a nicely composed combination
platter of fried tracks with a thick crust. Like a food intervention,
this recording says EAT! Raw, or cooked, Fingerfood is waltzing
away, not in a rigid, symmetrically precise variant on the derniere
crie of the day, but in many directions, all at once.
This music is not pretentious in its motifs.
It's just there to be yours. Since DER SEPARATOR, Hans Platzgumers
first recording on Disko B records, he has refined his secret blend
of spices to a grand recipe. You could say his music is 'extreme
tracking', the final turnback on the late dramaturgy of songstructure.
Nobody can do this in the style the ex-HP ZINKER axeman and current
self acclaimed 'snob' of DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN does.
FINGERFOOD was executed together with fellow cooks Gerhard Potuznik
(recording artist on Viennas Cheap, Morbid and Sabotage imprints)
and Michael Sauer (owner of the Hamburg Club Mojo and compiler of
the fine 'are friends electric?' compilations). The recording serves
as a connection to previous Platzgumer records on Disko B and L'age
d'or. His output functions like a family restaurant, it's pure homecooking
so eat what you can. Now, FINGERFOOD definetely is nouvelle cuisine,
it appears as a masterpiece of reduction without the nowadays easy
to apply minimalism tag. Platzgumer's approach to playing music
is 'hot', the selection of spicy sounds and the knowledge of the
boiling point serve as his kitchen secret. Main ingredients that
he used are Funk, House, Electro and TripHop, all foodprocessed
to a Hans Platzgumer 'moon stew'. Cheers, all the recipes you find
on the booklet are courtesy of Sandra Bellet, Chef de Cuisine. The
question is: Have the tracks been written before they were cooked
or was it the other way round? Anyway, we strongly recommend this
meal. Tasty! Short BIO: Just to remind you, in the mid eighties,
Platzgumer (born Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria) released his eponymous
''Death to the CD" record all by himself. This debut marked his
entry into the alternative rock circles. Subsequently his band H.P.
Zinker and their early records made the rounds and they became cult
stars in the US underground rock scene. For a while H.P. Zinker
were operating out of New York City. Nowadays well respected labels
like Matador and Thrilljockey were then started to give H.P. Zinker
an outlet. Famous indie rock stars were dedicated Platzgumer disciples.
After a bunch of well received records, touring back and forth the
US of A and Europe, Austrias second most famous man (after Arnold
Schwarzenegger) returned to the old world. H.P. Zinker broke up
and Platzgumer joined Hamburg's GOLDENEN ZITRONEN. On their milestone
record ''Economy Class" he is playing the bass among other instruments.
At the same time, he started his solo project AURA ANTHROPICA and
released two EPs on Hamburg's L'age D'or label. AURA ANTHROPICA
could be described as ''warm, soothing house tunes getting a punkrock
treatment". Since August of 1997, Platzgumer is a Munich resident.
At the same time his record DER SEPERATOR gets released on Disko
B records. He is still a fulltime member of DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN
and is planning on his solo projects as well as working in a recording
studio in Munich. He produced the Hamburg band Tocotronic. A 12inch
under the monniker CUBE&SPHERE entitled ''rorschach" together with
Viennese electronic whizzard Gerhard Potuznik is also imminent for
release on the Cheap label.
