9 electro-dialectic smog-folk tunes*

markus binder, zustaendig fuer text und riddim des ziehharmonika-tanzfloor-duos attwenger (bisher 4 cds auf trikont) hat sich `97 computer und sampler gekauft und begonnen, den sich veraendernden verhaeltnissen von sound, beat und text auf elektroakustischem weg auf die spur zu kommen.

als erstes ergebnis liegt nun die cd/do12 photos 01 vor, die im April 2001 auf dem muenchner label disko B erscheinen wird. photos sind samples, elektronische daten von uneindeutiger herkunft, fragmentierte sprache, die zu saetzen montiert wird wie bei der digitalen telefonauskunft, electro-percussions, organs, filter, effekte, von markus binder eingespielte und gesungene drums und vocals, vermischt, gesequenct und gemixt in einem gewissen tempo. "als ich einem unbekannten die nackte cd mit der aufschrift photos zum anhoeren gab, dachte er, das waere jetzt so eine cd, auf der digitale fotos abgespeichert sind, womit er im grunde nicht wirklich falsch lag."
weitere produktionen, mit denen es markus binder darum geht, die auf photos entstandenen geschichten weiterzuentwickeln, sind in planung. in vorbereitung sind zudem live-konzerte zusammen mit den beiden musikern sam auinger und rupert huber (tosca), die kuerzlich auf staalplaat die zweite cd ihres gemeinsamen projekts "berliner theorie" veroeffentlichten.

Binder is Markus Binder, responsible for lyrics and riddim of the Austrian harmonica-tanzfloor-duo ATTWENGER. Attwenger's previous 4 cds were on German label trikont, and as John Peel said,"I have no idea, what it's all about, but I like the general noise, a great deal. that's attwenger." Or as the Rough Guide to World Music put it: "head-banging ländler-beat from the wildest of the alpine groups". Binder bought himself a computer and sampler in 1997 and began to work on the altered states of sound, beat and lyrics with electro-acoustic means.

the cd/do12'' PHOTOS 01 is the first result of his solo-explorations. photos are samples, electronic data of unclarified origin, fragmented language, which is put together in sentences like electronic telephone information, electro-percussions, organs, filter, effects, drums and vocals played by markus binder, mixed, sequenced in a certain tempo. Forthcoming productions are already in the work. The concept will also be presented live with the musicians Sam Auinger and Rupert Huber (TOSCA), who just released the second cd of their project "BERLINER THEORIE" on staalplaat.
