Olgalyn Jolly, vocalist, songwriter and one of the founding members of the electro-rock band Silicon Soul has had a varied background in the entertainment industry Her talent as a singer and dancer has propelled her to performances throughout tha United States, Europe, the West Indies, and Japan pertorming in Broadway shows, on television, and in film. K. L. Schafer, also a founding member of Silicon Soul, is a musician, an inventor of novel electronic musical instruments, änd a composer. His music compositions are heard in theatres throughout the United States and Europe often as scores to modern dance and other theatrical works, and he has been doing live performances of his mus[c since 1975. In 1980 Olgalyn Jolly and K. L. Schafer combined their skills to create the band Silicon Soul and record its first self-titled 12" EP featuring the electro-dance tune "Who Needs Sleep Tonight". Besides Jolly and Schafer-the band through the years has included the very latest of Schafer's custom-made computer controlled synthesizers and a host of notable musicians. Master Haitian drummer Frisner Augustine of La Troupe Makandal, world beat percussionist John Amira, guitarists Artie Sky, Mario Sen, and Scott "Family Man" Carter, guitarist/vocalist Johnny Mahoney, saxophonist Steve Buchanan, percussionist Kevin Burrell, percussionist/dancer Serge St. Juste, percussionist/vocalist Vesta Maxey, vocalist/dancer Pat Hall, dancer Negumi, and vocalist Lynae Davis are the artists who have sat in from time to time at Silicon Soul recording sessions and performances. Silicon Soul is working to push the limits of pop music.
