Unwittingly or not Dakar & Grinser personify the ugly side of rave culture. They’re thugs, purely and simply. Dakar’s lyrics are twisted and surrealistic, loaded with bizarre pop culture references, drug slang, and menacing sexuality. Appropriately, their sound is as convoluted. Their music relies heavily on the sound and rhythm of techno, spiked with '70s rock licks and swirling Moroder’s arpeggios. They’re so post-modern that they’re unique. They don’t sample, but they borrow melodies and sentences and in the process they commit rock blasphemy.

In the late 90’s Dakar & Grinser brilliantly brought out the latent hysteria and even violence that lay beneath the surface of any drug fuelled club scene and undoubtedly their music became a benchmark of the “Munich decadence”, experiencing a brief moment in the spotlight before the band collapsed in 2001.Three years and 700 miles after they’re together again to celebrate Berlin’s vulgarity and excessiveness...The decline of Techno.
